Pack Earns Four Podium-Finishes on First Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The NC State track and field team returned to action today, picking up four podium-finishes on the first night of Penn Relays.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Distance
Leah Stephens debuted in the women's 10,000m and earned first overall place with a time of 33:09.25. Kelsey Chmiel returned to action in the event and took second place after timing in at 33:15.66.
Sydney Seymour turned in a time of 15:55.63 in the women's 5000m to take sixth. In the men's 5000m, David Vorbach also finished sixth after running 13:56.04.
Throws
Another podium-finish came the Pack's way in the women's hammer throw. Sydney Freeman claimed third with a throw of 55.79m. Mahkayla Hart also threw in the event with a mark of 47.53m.
Middle Distance
In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Brett Gardner came in second with a time of 8:36.23, the fourth-best time in NC State history.
With a time of 4:20.70 in the women's 1500m, Angelina Napoleon finished with a new PR. Zach Hughes took home a top-10 finish in the men's 1500m, clocking in at 3:44.60 to claim sixth place.
Sprints
Xavier Branker clocked in at 51.59 in the men's 400m hurdles to take fifth overall.

The Pack is back in action on Friday, April 26 for the second day of Penn Relays and the opening night of the Charlotte Invitational.
