NC State to Honor 1984 ACC Championship Team on Sunday
RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 21 NC State gymnastics returns to Reynolds Coliseum for the final time in 2024 on Sunday afternoon as the Wolfpack will host Penn, Penn State and Texas Woman's University in a quad meet.
Sunday will mark the second time this season that the Pack will host a ranked opponent, as Penn State enters this weekend's quad ranked two spots below NC State at No. 23.
The Wolfpack enters Sunday's matinee having just fired a 196.750 in a quad meet at Temple on Thursday, bringing home a second-place finish as Maryland won the team title at 197.050.
The Pack used a season-high beam score of 49.425 in the opening rotation and a trio of event titles on vault, bars and floor to push its NQS from 196.620 to 196.725, with 196.750 marking NC State's second-highest road score of the season.
Sunday will be a special day at NC State for multiple reasons, with the meet acting as both NC State's senior day and a program alumni reunion. Madison Benson, Alexis Ortega and Emily Shepard alongside student coach Brooke Conley will each be honored as part of the afternoon's senior day festivities, and a special celebration of the 1984 ACC Championship team will be held as well as part of the alumni reunion.
The quad meet between the Wolfpack, Quakers, Nittany Lions and Pioneers is slated for a 4 p.m. start time, with a stream provided on the ACC Network Extra through the WatchESPN app for those who cannot attend.
Tickets will be available at the front door of Reynolds upon entry into the event or can be purchased in advance on GoPack.com.
