
Pack Take Down Clemson 4-0

RALEIGH, N.C.- J.W Isenhour Tennis Center was electric Friday night as No. 20 NC State Men's tennis took on the Clemson Tigers in the Pack's first ACC match at home.
This was the Wolfpack's first time playing at home since Head coach Kyle Spencer hit his hundredth win at NC State. Prior to the match coach Spencer was recognized on court one where he was joined by the team to receive an award commemorating his achievement.
On court three Damien Salvestre and Joe Wayand made it happen for the Pack in doubles play. Maintaining a steady lead throughout their match. The pair closed out their match first with a 6-3 over No. 62 ranked opponents Noa Vukadin and Max Damm(CU) giving the Pack the upper hand in doubles play.
On court one Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli struggled to find their rhythm in the beginning of doubles play. Marko Mesarovic and Stewart Aronson(CU) made way, taking the lead. Finding weaknesses the pair evened out the match 3-3. The Tigers eventually found the lead again taking the second doubles match 6-3. Left on court five was Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek who helped the Pack clinch the doubles point on a 6-4 victory over opponents Max Smith and Wissam Abderrhman(CU).
The Pack headed into singles play with the doubles point on the board. Junior and also birthday boy Luca Staeheli wasted no time getting a quick 6-0 lead in the first set to start things off for the Pack in singles play.
No. 103 Fons Van Sambeek had a strong first set leading 6-4 over opponent Marko Mesarovic (CU). This was Sambeek's first match since claiming a spot in the ITA singles rankings. Heading into the second set the match was abandoned due to courts two, three, and five finishing up prior.
Damien Salvestre battled it out against opponent Noa Vukadin (CU) in a two set match In a close first set Salvestre pulled away from his Tiger opponent claiming the first set 6-4. Salvestre making strides was explosive in the second set securing a quick 6-2 second set, giving the Pack its first singles point of the evening.
Braden Shick controlled his match against ranked opponent No. 75 Wissam Abderrham (CU) in a 6-4, 2-3 match. In a two set take down Shick celebrated being third point of the day for the Pack.
Staheli who kicked things off for the Pack also finished things off clinching the win for the Pack, in a 6-4 second set. The Pack racked up a 4-0 win and extended their overall record to 9-4, and 2-1 in ACC play.
