Wolfpack Women Concludes Championships, Finishes in Ninth Place Nationally

ATHENS, Ga. – The Wolfpack women wrapped up the NCAA Swim and Dive Championships with a strong showing on the fourth and final day, finishing on the podium twice and moving their team score to 162 points, closing out the week in ninth place.
Despite being the smallest team seeded to score within the top 15 the Wolfpack women went on to finish among the top 10 for the fifth straight year.
As she had done all week, Katharine Berkoff continued to break her own records, with the latest coming in the 100 YD freestyle when she did it in both the preliminaries and the finals. Finishing first in her heat at 46.65 to start the day she went on to secure her spot on the podium with a second-place finish, breaking the record she set in prelims going 46.23 and securing her fifth All-American honor of the meet.
Kennedy Noble found herself in the final once again this week, swimming in the final heat, this time in the 200 backstroke. With a 1:49.78, Noble finished second overall in the preliminary races, setting a personal best and becoming just the second Wolfpack women swimmer in program history to go sub 1:50.50. She followed it up with a school record of 1:48.43 and placing second on the podium.
Emma Hastings swam a personal best and the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 1650 freestyle final. Hastings went 15.59.69, dropping 9.57 from her previous best, and finished 13th overall for honorable All-American honors.
In her first National Championship appearance, freshman Bayleigh Cranford competed in the 3m and platform diving competition. She placed 38th in the platform and 44th in the 3m.
The night ended with the 400 freestyle relay team of Berkoff, Noble, Abby Arens, and Annabel Crush going 3:11.77, dropping 0.63 from their entry time they placed 12th and once again brought honorable mentions All-American status for the Wolfpack.
Five program records were set over the course of the week, including the 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 and 200 backstroke, all broken by either Berkoff or Noble.
With 30 All-American Awards, Berkoff is one of the most decorated Wolfpack women swimmers in history finishing her career just shy of Kylee Alons (31) for most All-American recognitions in program history.
Grace Sheble performed well over the week, swimming in the 200 and 400 IM and the 200 Butterfly.
Freshman Miriam Sheehan got a taste of swimming in a national championship, participating in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 200 free relay, and the 100 backstroke.
