
No. 22 NC State Takes on Top-10 Virginia

BLACKSBURG, VA- No. 22 NC State men's tennis will head to Charlottesville, VA after its 7-0 sweep to the Virginia Tech Hokies Friday night. The Pack take on the Cavaliers Sunday, Mar. 3 at 1:00PM.  
The Wolfpack head into Sunday's match with an overall record of 8-3 and now 1-0 record in ACC play. The Wolfpack plan to build off of the momentum of its first ACC victory, and use that energy in Sunday's match against the Cavilers. 
 
Pack in the rankings:
The Pack have maintained top-25 status in ITA rankings throughout the season only dropping for one week, after its defeat to No. 9 Columbia. The Pack shot back up on the charts after recording its highest victory over a ranked opponent defeating No. 2 South Carolina in Columbia, SC 4-3, Feb. 2.Â
ÂThis week the Pack clocked in at the twenty- two slot in ITA team rankings heading into its two match weekend in Virginia.Â
ÂJuniors Joe Wayand and Braden Shick still feature on the ITA singles rankings alongside Senior Robin Catry who leads the Pack at the No. 61 spot. Shick represents the Pack at the No. 109 spot with Wayand following at the No. 124.
ÂDoubles duo Martin Borisiouk and Joe Wayand also continue to make an appearance in the charts, hanging out at the No. 22 spot in ITA doubles rankings
ÂScouting the Cavaliers:Â
No. 8 Virginia began 2024 dual play this season flying high at No. 1 in ITA team rankings. The Cavaliers showed their dominance early in the season defeating Liberty, JMU, and Texas all in their first two weeks of the season. The Cavaliers were struck with defeat when going head to head against No. 5 South Carolina in Charlottesville Jan. 21. Â
ÂThe Cavaliers were a host site in the ITA Kickoff weekend advancing in the tournament, and punching their ticket to the ITA national team indoors in New York. Defeating both Duke and Tennessee, Virginia fell short in semi- semi-finals heading home after their 4-0 loss to Ohio State.
ÂVirginia has a collection of ranked players on their roster including. Featuring in their singles lineup includes No. 10 Chris Rodesch, No. 45 Jeffery Von Der Schulenburg, No. 50 Dylan Dietrich, No. 55 Inaki Montes De La Torre, and No. 59 Ryan Fishback.Â
ÂDoubles pairs No. 15 Inaki Montes De La Torre and James Hooper, and No. 48 Chris Rodesch and Jeffery Von Der Schulenburg also represent the Cavaliers in the ITA doubles rankings.
