Wolfpack Set to Open ACC Play at Clemson

RALEIGH -- The NC State softball team (13-3, 0-0) is set to open Atlantic Coast Conference play at Clemson (11-3, 0-0), beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday March 2 at 1pm and 3pm. The final game of the series is set to begin at 12pm on Sunday March 3.

The Pack holds a 12-8 record in ACC openers and is 1-2 when opening conference play on the road.

Noting the Pack

2024 marks the first season under the leadership of first-time head coach Lindsay Leftwich. She came to NC State after spending the last 12 seasons as the top assistant at LSU under Beth Torina.
NC State returns 18 players from its 2023 campaign, including infielder Hannah Goodwin who led the team with a .359 batting average a year ago.
The Pack welcomed six newcomers over the summer, including five freshmen and a transfer.
Tenacious - the best word to describe the 2024 squad. They accept any challenge thrown their way, no matter how difficult it proves to be. Those who were here in 2023 dealt with some interesting circumstances, but stuck together as they knew the future would bring brighter days.

Series History with Clemson (Tigers lead 6-1)

The weekend marks just the third series with the Tigers since their inaugural season in 2021.
NC State won the third game of the series in 2023, defeating the No. 6/7 Tigers 7-5. The first two games of the 2023 series were close as Clemson won by only two and three runs.
The Pack has never won when playing in Clemson.
The Pack has scored as many as 7 runs and as few as one against the Tigers.
Friday's outing will mark the first time the Pack has faced the Tigers in a conference opener.
The meeting will also be a reunion for junior Hannah Goodwin who spent her first three seasons at Clemson. She recorded the final out in the win over the Tigers in game three of the series last season.
