
Two Earn All-ACC Honors on Opening Day of Indoor Championships

BOSTON, MA - The NC State track and field team opened postseason action today at the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships in Boston with two athletes claiming All-ACC honors.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Distance
Amaris Tyynismaa was the Pack's highest finisher on the opening night of the Indoor Championships, finishing second overall in the 5000m with a personal best time of 15:59.71. Her time also earned her First Team All-ACC honors.
Jenna Schulz also competed in the event and recorded a personal best time of 16:39.90.Â
In the men's DMR, the grouping of Jake Toomey, Xavier Branker, Zach Hughes, and Brett Gardner set a new school record for the event with a fourth-place time of 9:35.82. This marks the second time in two weeks in which the men's indoor DMR record has been broken.
The women's DMR team of Grace Hartman, Kate Putman, Angelina Napoleon, and Sam Bush also finished fourth, clocking in at 10:58.25.
Throws
Makala Wright finished the women's weight throw with a mark of 19.35m to take sixth place and earn Second-Team All-ACC honors, the first of her career.
Sprints
Lance Patterson set a new personal record in the men's 200m with a time of 21.90. On the women's side of the event, Jordyn Parker represented NC State, finishing in 24.60 to set a new personal best.
Multi-Events
In the women's heptathlon, Jakerra Covington claimed a new PR mark in the high jump, leaping 1.61m.
