How It Happened
- The story of the first inning was the NC State offense. After loading the bases with the first three batters of the game, Ellie Goins sent a line-drive single into the circle that caught Phoenix starter Lia Miller off guard, allowing a run to score. MaKayla Marbury followed up with a two-RBI double that increased the lead to three.
- In the top of the second, the Pack continued to hold Elon off of the board with starter Carly Maxton picking up her first punch out of the afternoon to send the game into the third inning.
- NC State managed to put runners in scoring position in both the second and fifth innings, but the game ultimately remained scoreless until the sixth.
- Elon was able to break through the Pack defense after a double and a single allowed runners to score. The Phoenix minimized the deficit to one by the end of the top half of the sixth.
- More offense came NC State's way in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on first and second as a result of a fielder's choice, Taylor Ensley stepped up to the plate and delivered an RBI single that scored one before a wild pitch allowed Kaylee Lambrecht to score a second run. The Pack finished the sixth leading 5-2.
- The Phoenix were unable to minimize the deficit in the top of the seventh, allowing the Pack to finish on top.
- Maxton recorded her first career win in the circle, while Wyman picked up the save.
- Seven members of the Pack recorded a hit in the outing, including freshman Tia Beckham.
How It Happened
- It was a familiar start in game two for the Pack, as Ellie Goins once again drove in the first run of the game with an RBI-single in the first inning. Kaylee Lambrecht led off with a walk, stole second and eventually made it 1-0 thanks to Goins' single.
- Nadia Sykes drew a leadoff walk to begin the bottom of the second. Two batters later, veteran Hannah Goodwin stepped to the plate and launched a ball over the left field wall to extend the lead to 3-0 and record her first home run of the season.
- UConn managed to get one run on the board in the top of the sixth after a two-out solo homer by Lexi Hastings.
- Sophomore Rylee Wyman started in the circle for the Pack and had a career outing. She finished the afternoon with 11 strikeouts, highlighted by five consecutive.
- Four members of the Pack recorded a hit against the Huskies – Kaylee Lambrecht, Nadia Sykes, Hannah Goodwin, and Tori Ensley.
- The win marked the 600th win in program history.
