
Wolfpack Closes Weekend 6-0, Stretches Win Streak to Seven

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team pushed its winning streak to seven games after defeating both Elon and Campbell in the final two games of The Marucci Classic Sunday afternoon at Dail Softball Stadium.
The first 11 games this season has seen the Wolfpack go 8-3, marking the best start to a season since 2022. In her first season as the head coach, Lindsay Leftwich has begun her career setting the mark for best start for a head coach in their first season leading the Wolfpack.

The Pack will remain in Raleigh to prepare for the Wolfpack Classic. Play will begin on Friday Feb. 23 and wrap up on Sunday Feb. 25.

How it Happened
- Aisha Weixlmann started in the circle for the Wolfpack and struck out the first two batters faced.
- Kaylee Lambrecht led off with a walk in the bottom half of the first. Amanda Hasler stepped into the box and swung on the first pitch, sending a bomb to left centerfield. The homer was her first of the season and put the Pack on the board 2-0. With two outs and no one on, MaKayla Marbury drilled a ball to right center to push NC State ahead 3-0.
- NC State saw three consecutive batters single in the bottom half of the second (Michele Tarpey, Hannah Goodwin, Tori Ensley), but no runs added to the board.
- The Pack scored two more in the bottom of the third after two singles allowed runners to score.
- The Phoenix scored a three-run homer in the top of the fourth to minimize the deficit to two, but NC State responded in the bottom half of the inning with a bomb from Hasler and a single from Marbury that brought a runner home.
- Weixlmann exited the circle in the top of the fifth with one out. She finished the outing with eight strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. Rylee Wymann entered as relief.
- Four members of the Pack recorded two hits in the outing – Amanda Hasler, MaKayla Marbury, Tori Ensley, Michele Tarpey.
How it Happened
- The Camels wasted no time taking the 1-0 lead, as an error allowed Lindsay Lumsden to score.
- The Wolfpack responded in the bottom half of the opening frame with a sacrifice fly that allowed Amanda Hasler to score, tying the game one-all.
- With two on base and no outs, Hannah Goodwin stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the second. She reached first on a fielder's choice and Taylor Ensley managed to reach home to push the Pack in front, 2-1
- The two teams went scoreless through the fourth. The top of the fifth saw Campbell score its final run of the evening after a single brought a runner home.
- The Wolfpack responded in the bottom half of the inning as freshman Tia Beckham singled, later advancing to second on the throw by the Camels. Her hit allowed Nadia Sykes and MaKayla Marbury to score, pushing the Pack lead to two.
- NC State scored its fifth and final run of the evening after a solo bomb by Taylor Ensley flew over the centerfield wall in the bottom of the sixth.
- Madison Inscoe started in the circle for the Wolfpack and recorded four strikeouts in four innings pitched. Carly Maxton faced two batters in the top of the fifth before Rylee Wyman entered. Wyman pitched 2.1 innings and picked up four strikeouts, in addition to the win.
- Seven members of the Pack recorded a hit in the outing with the Camels – Amanda Hasler, MaKayla Marbury, and Taylor Ensley all recorded two hits each. Marbury also led the team with three stolen bases.
- NC State recorded a total of six stolen bases, a mark that ties for second most in a single game in program history.
