How it Happened
- Freshman pitcher Kayla Fekel picked up two quick outs to begin the first inning, but the Bison managed to grab an early lead thanks to a three-run homer by Jasmyn Yessian.
- With two outs in the bottom of the first, Taylor Ensley got one back for the Wolfpack after crushing a bomb to center to get NC State on the board.
- NC State's bats continued to heat up in the bottom of the second inning with MaKayla Marbury sending a ball over the center field wall to narrow the deficit to one.Â
- The Pack offense wasn't finished there. In the bottom of the third, NDSU reliever Piper Reed entered the game and was immediately met with back-to-back solo shots by the Wolfpack – Amanda Hasler picked up her first home run of the season before Taylor Ensley recorded her second of the day to give NC State the lead, 4-3.
- After taking the mound for the Pack to begin the third inning, sophomore Rylee Wyman picked up two strikeouts in the top of the fourth to continue to hold the Bison offense at bay.
- To open the bottom of the fourth, Hannah Goodwin picked up a leadoff single and advanced to second on a fielding error by the Bison. Gabi Wilson then entered the game as a pinch runner and was eventually sent home thanks to a sacrifice fly from Alaina Smith that increased the Wolfpack lead to two. NC State would score again in the fifth to lead 6-3.Â
- The Bison minimized the deficit to two in the top of the sixth after a sacrifice fly by Jasmyn Yessian allowed one to score, making it 6-4.
- Veteran pitcher Aisha Weixlmann took the circle in the seventh and shut the door on the Bison offense, striking out one batter to secure the 6-4 win for the Wolfpack.
- Wyman earned the win in the circle while Aisha Weixlmann recorded the save.
- The Pack scored six runs on twelve hits, including four long balls and scored in all but one inning.Â
- Taylor Ensley's two-home run performance marked the first time a member of the Wolfpack recorded two homers in a game since Katyln Pavlick on April 1, 2023 against L.A. Tech. It was also the first time NC State had seen back-to-back home runs since the same LA Tech game last season.
How it Happened
- Campbell attempted to get on the board first in the top of the second, but NC State caught one of the Camels' trying to steal second, bringing up out number three.Â
- The Wolfpack tallied three hits through the fifth inning, but were unable to score. Alaina Smith, and Michele Tarpey each hit a single in the bottom of the second, while Kaylee Lambrecht recorded one of her own in the bottom of the third.Â
- In the top of the fifth, Ellie Goins robbed the Camels of a home run as she caught the ball in the very top of her glove over the outfield wall to bring up the second out.
- Freshman Tori Ensley led off the sixth inning with a triple and then scored after an error by the Fighting Camels to get NC State on the board. With two outs, MaKayla Marbury hit a triple of her own that allowed two to score and she eventually reached home to make it 4-0.Â
- Campbell had hot bats in the seventh as they scored three runs after a double and a single allowed runners to get home, but it wasn't enough as the Wolfpack ended the scoring run and won 4-3.Â
- Redshirt-senior Aisha Weixlmann pitched the entire seven innings for the Wolfpack and finished the evening with five strikeouts. The win was her second in the circle this season for NC State.Â
- Six members of the Pack recorded a hit and Marbury led the way with two RBI's in the outing.Â
