Pack Plays Old Dominion Sunday Afternoon

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's basketball team is home for back-to-back games for the first time this season, as the Pack hosts Old Dominion on Sunday. The game against the Monarchs is set to tipoff at 2 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
ABOUT NC STATE
- The Wolfpack picked up its first ranked win of the season over No. 18/18 Ole Miss to improve to 2-0 in the SEC/ACC Challenge
- The Pack has the toughest strength of schedule of all Power 4 teams in the country. After debuting at No. 30, the Pack is now No. 28
- NC State fell out of the AP Poll, receiving 58 votes to be at No. 26. The Pack's three losses are to top 10 teams: No. 3 South Carolina, No. 5 LSU and No. 9 TCU. The Pack is No. 24 in the WBCA Coaches Poll
- The Pack has five players who average 9.0 points or more per game
- Through eight games, the Pack is led by Aziaha James' 16.8 points per game, as well as her 1.6 steals per contest
- With 16 consecutive double-digit scoring games (stretching from last season), James now has 1,096 career points (surpassing 1K vs. Kent State on 11/14), which is No. 33 on the all-time scoring list
- Saniya Rivers leads the Pack in rebounds per game (5.3) and blocks per game (1.3)
- Zoe Brooks and James lead in assists with 2.9 dimes per game
- The Pack leads the ACC and is second in the country in least fouls per game (11.3), and is fifth in least turnovers per game (13.5), sixth in 3-pointers per game (7.6) and eighth in field goal percentage (45.2), three-point percentage (.351) and defensive rebounds per game (27.4)
- The Pack will play ODU for the second straight year after defeating the Monarchs, 87-50, in Norfolk last season
SCOUTING OLD DOMINION
- Old Dominion was picked to finish third with 167 points in the Sun Belt Preseason Poll
- The Monarchs finished 22-10 with a 12-6 Sun Belt mark to finish fourth in the league last season. The team fell at North Carolina A&T, 48-45, in the first round of the WNIT
- ODU had two players make the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, as En'Dya Buford made the Second Team and Kelsey Thompson was a Third Team selection. Buford averaged 12.4 points per game with 70 assists and 69 steals, while Thompson, a South Alabama transfer, logged 12.0 points per game with 68 assists last year
- Buford leads the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game, as well as 32 total assists and 17 steals
- Simone Cunningham has a team-leading 5.5 rebounds per game and Mariah Clayton has the most blocks with six
SERIES HISTORY (NC STATE LEADS SERIES 24-13)
- NC State leads Old Dominion in the series, 24-13, which includes 11-3 at home, 8-5 away and 5-5 on a neutral court
- The Pack has a five-game winning streak over ODU
- NC State and ODU will meet for the 38th time of the series on Sunday
- These two teams met last season, resulting in a 87-50 road win for the Pack. Madison Hayes led the team in scoring with 17 points, while Virginia Beach native James logged 16 points. Brooks registered a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists
- The two teams met for the first time on 1975, resulting in a 78-71 loss for the Pack
- In wins, the Pack wins by an average of 14.9 points, while in losses, the Pack loses by 11.8 points
LAST TIME OUT
- NC State earned its first ranked win of the season over No. 18/18 Ole Miss in the SEC/ACC Challenge, 68-61
- The Pack led the entire game, with its largest lead being 22 midway through the third quarter until Ole Miss cut the lead to two with two minutes left in the game. A 3-pointer by James and free throws by Brooks and Rivers sealed the win
- NC State won the rebounding battle, 45-35, and shot 8-of-14 from beyond the arc
- Brooks led the team with 19 points off 8-of-13 shooting from the field with three assists and two steals
- Zamareya Jones tallied 14 points off the bench, including going 4-of-4 from 3-point in the second quarter, which tied a quarter program record, while adding one block
- James logged 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals
- Rivers recorded 10 points, six rebounds and four assists
- Mallory Collier and Hayes tied for a game-high nine rebounds
