
Women’s Tennis Finishes Regular Season Fall Slate at ITA East Sectional Championship

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Sectional Championship, played at Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Four Pack student-athletes played for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship over the weekend.
Mia Slama went 1-1 on the weekend. The freshman opened the tournament with a 6-4, 6-0 straight set win over No. 49 Duke's Katie Codd. She would then fall to Virginia's No. 74 Elaine Chervinsky in a hard-fought match, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Slama went 9-3 in singles play over the fall.
No. 108 Gabriella Broadfoot dropped her opening match to South Carolina's Sarah Hammer, 6-4, 6-3. She would then make a big run in the consolation bracket, starting with a first match victory over Princeton's Alice Ferlito, 4-6, 6-2 (10-7). Broadfoot then took down Yale's Mirabelle Brettkelly, 6-3, 6-2 before losing to UMass' Danielle Hack, 4-6, 2-6.
No. 85 Kristina Paskauskas & Jasmine Conway defeated Penn's Eileen Wang & Sabine Rutlauka, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 in doubles play. In the quarterfinals, the duo fell to Virginia's No. 30 Martina Genis Salas & Annabelle Xu, 7-6 (7-2), 3-6 (6-10).

The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships is next, taking place in Waco, Texas from Nov. 19-24. Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo have qualified for doubles play.
