NC State drops to No. 25 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The NC State women's soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 25 Virginia at Klöckner Stadium.
The match heated up quickly, with Virginia scoring the first goal just one minute after kickoff. NC State fought to gain possession in the first half, but Virginia maintained 66% possession.
Virginia's defense dominated, becoming the only team this season to hold NC State to zero shots in the first half. The Cavaliers tallied 17 shots in the half and led in corner kicks, 5-1, over the Wolfpack.
NC State goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas matched her career high of eight saves in the 60th minute, finishing with a new record of nine by the end of the match.
In the second half, Virginia scored again in the 72nd minute with a shot from inside the box. The Cavaliers secured the game-winning goal in the 75th minute with
another play from inside the box.

The Wolfpack returns to action Oct. 17 when it travels to Syracuse for another ACC match.
