Shepard, Hall End Afternoon on All-Around Podium
ATHENS, Ga. – NC State Gymnastics opened its 2024 campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 194.225 final score in a dual-meet loss to Georgia. The GymDogs finished the afternoon at 196.200, outscoring the Wolfpack on bars, beam, and floor.
The Pack's afternoon was highlighted by Chloe Negrete taking the individual titles on vault (9.875) and beam (9.900), while Emily Shepard claimed a solo first-place finish on floor (9.850). Shepard ended the day in second place amongst four all-around competitors (39.050), while freshman Maddie Hall's career debut resulted in a third-place all-around finish with a score of 38.375.
Bars (48.725)
Three NC State gymnasts led the way for the Wolfpack by tabbing a trio of 9.800 scores in the Pack's first rotation of the season. Hall, Peyton Childs, and Katie Harper each clocked in a 9.800, with Hall and Harper each starting their inaugural season on a high note in their first routine as members of the Wolfpack roster.
Bars specialist Kailee Adomaites led off the event with a 9.725, while Shepard tabbed a 9.600 to anchor the event for NC State.
Vault (49.025)
The Pack posted its best event score of the day in its second rotation with a 49.025 on vault, with fifth-years Shepard and Negrete leading the way for NC State in its final two lineup spots. Shepard's 9.850 was followed by a 9.875 from Negrete in the anchor position, while Hall's all-around effort was aided by a 9.800. Ashley Knight made her career debut with a 9.775, while the event was led off by a 9.725 from Meg Adler.
Floor (48.700)
Shepard's individual floor title came by way of a 9.850 in the fifth lineup spot, with Knight tabbing her second 9.775 of the afternoon to contribute her second counted score of the contest. Senior Krista Zultevicz fired a 9.750 in her lone event of the day, while Hall contributed a 9.700 and Negrete's 9.625 rounded out the rotation.
Beam (47.775)
The Wolfpack's best individual score of the day came during its 24th and final routine, with Negrete tabbing the team's first 9.9+ score of the season with a 9.900 on beam. Adler led off the event with an impressive 9.825 in the first beam appearance of her career, while a 9.750 from Shepard completed her all-around performance. NC State suffered a trio of falls in its final event of the day, being forced to count two towards its final score after not counting any during the team's first three rotations.

The Wolfpack will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 9 p.m. as the squad will travel to West Valley City, Utah to participate in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad alongside BYU, Cal, and Michigan State. The meet will be broadcast on the ACC Network, marking the first of four nationally-televised NC State meets in the regular season.
