
No. 7 Wolfpack Begins ITA Kickoff with a 4-0 Victory Over Alabama

RALEIGH, N.C. – Seventh-ranked NC State Women's Tennis (4-0) began ITA Kickoff weekend with a 4-0 win over Alabama (2-1) Saturday Afternoon from the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Wolfpack will now play in the championship game of the Raleigh region on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. against either Iowa or Clemson, with a chance to travel to Seattle, Wa. for the ITA Indoor Championships on Feb. 9-12.
In the first meeting of the two programs, the Wolfpack claimed the doubles point rather quickly as the No. 7 ranked doubles pair Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo took down Petra Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko 6-3. They were followed by a win from the No. 9 Sophie Abrams and Anna Zyryanova, winning 6-3 over Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser.
In singles play, it was No. 19 Abrams on court four, finishing first and winning in straight sets 6-0 and 6-1. As Abrams wrapped up her match, No. 3 Rajecki, on court one, took down No. 18 Bencheikh comfortably, 6-0, 6-2.
With the score 3-0 and a point away from clinching the match, No. 40 Zyryanova took her first set 6-0. Set two was a bit closer as Margaux Maquet tried to rally from two games down but could never tie as Zyryanova held on to win 6-4 and send NC State to the finals on Sunday.
