RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 8 ranked Wolfpack (1-0) will look to carry the momentum from their 7-0 victory over SMU in their home opener as they get set to welcome two instate opponents this weekend in Campbell (0-1) and NC Central (0-1).
The action kicks off from the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Saturday, January 20, at 1 p.m., with the Wolfpack taking on Campbell, followed by NC Central at 5 p.m.
All matches this weekend will be streamed live on TrackTennis, and live scores are available here. Both of this weekend's matches are free to attend, and nearby parking is also free of charge.
It was a smooth start for the Wolfpack against the Mustangs last time out, as NC State only dropped a single set on their way to their sixth straight opening season victory.
The Wolfpack moved up a spot to No. 8 in the ITA Division I Women's Top 25 Coaches Poll following their victory over SMU.
With a win in both singles and doubles last time out, senior Sophie Abrams is now one win away from cracking the top 10 all-time in both singles and doubles. A win in singles would give her 72 for her career, putting her in a tie with Tatiana Illova. A win in doubles would be the 62 of her career, tying her with Lenka Hojckova.
Abrams would join fellow teammates Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki on the list as Rencheli sits in seventh all-time with 84 singles wins and in eighth with 74 double wins. Rajecki, with 83 single wins, is in eighth place, and her 85 double wins put her fourth all-time.
Scouting Campbell
Campbell began their season with a loss to No. 1 North Carolina. The Wolfpack are 6-1 all-time against the Camels, winning the last six straight meetings all by a score of 7-0. Campbell last beat NC State in their first-ever meeting back in 1992.
Scouting NC Central
This will only be the third meeting between NC State and NC Central, with the Wolfpack winning 7-0 in 2014 and 2018. The Eagles are coming off a 7-0 loss to No. 15 Duke.
