No.21 NC State Home Opener Against Northwestern

Raleigh, N.C.- No.21, ranked NC State men's tennis will begin their 2024 dual slate this Monday, January 15th, as they welcome Northwestern (10:00 a.m.) to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.Â
Match Day Information
Monday's match will be played indoors. Doors will open for fans at 9:00 a.m.Â
Admission to Monday's match will be free! Fans will also not be required to obtain a virtual parking permit prior to Monday's match, as it is a university holiday.Â
 However, fans who plan to attend matches before 5 p.m. on weekdays throughout the season will need to obtain a virtual parking permit upon arrival.Â
Promotions
Don't forget to visit the marketing table prior to the start of the men's match. Free donuts and coffee will be provided to fans.
Northwestern Preview
This will be the Pack's 13th time taking on Northwestern, previously facing the Wildcats early on last season in Evanston, IL. Northwestern finished up their season with a record of 21-10 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
Five Wildcats will return from last season: Max Bengtsson, Gleb Blekher, Saiprakash Goli, Felix Norby, and Presley Thieneman.Â
Northwestern will open their season on the road. The Wildcats previously opened their 2023 season at home against the Pack.
The Wildcats have much versatility in their team, with expectations that Thursday's competition will be a good matchup. The Pack currently have a 4-2 home record against the Wildcats, 7-5 overall.Â
New members of the Pack
The Pack welcomed three new members to the squad for the 2023-2024 season: William Manning, Jakub Katuch, and Jules Leroux. All plan to make their college debut in the upcoming spring season.Â
Fall 2023 Recap
Junior Joe Wayand is definitely a player to watch coming into the 2024 spring season. Back in May, Wayand became an All-American alongside former doubles partner Rafa Izquierdo. Wayand's All-American honor makes him one of eight individuals to receive All-American honors in NC State history.
Double Trouble
Building off of a successful season, Wayand wrapped up the fall season with a 6-3 record in singles play. As well as finishing undefeated alongside doubles partner Martin Borisiouk. The pair will begin the spring season with a 9-0 doubles record.Â
Junior Fons Van Sambeek and senior Robin Catry brought hardware back to Raleigh after taking home the doubles title in East Lansing, Michigan, back in November. The pair competed in four doubles matches in the ITF M15 tournament in East Lansing, Michigan, defeating the No.2 ranked doubles pair from Michigan State, Ozan Baris and Max Sheldon, in the quarter-finals.
