Pack Wraps Up First Day of VT Invitational

BLACKSBURG, VA - The NC State track and field team returned to action last night, competing in the first events of the Virginia Tech Invitational.
SPRINTS
Ally Henson turned in two impressive performances on the night in the women's 60m hurdles. With a time of 8.45 in the prelims, Henson finished second overall to advance to the finals. She went on to win the event with a new personal best time of 8.29 that is good for fifth all-time in NC State history.
In the men's 60m hurdles prelims, Alex Nunley took first place with a time of 7.91 to advance to the finals where he finished second overall after clocking in at 7.88. Freshman Xavier Branker also turned in two impressive performances in the 60m hurdles, finishing fifth in the prelims with a mark of 8.15 and fourth in the finals with a time of 8.01.
MIDDLE DISTANCE
Quentin Clarke came in fifth in the men's 500m after clocking in at 1:05.78.
In the men's 300m, Branker (34.42) and Kyron Parker (35.20) each turned in top-10 performances, finishing fourth and eight, respectively.
JUMPS
Jirah Sidberry finished third overall with a jump of 6.06m in the women's long jump. Jayda Hunter also competed in the long jump and set a new personal best with a leap of 5.28m.Â
On the men's side of the long jump, Tyson Adams came in second after jumping 7.24m.Â
THROWS
Sophomore Nathan Lau opened his season with a fourth-place finish in the men's weight throw after submitting a throw of 17.18m.Â
Makala Wright placed third in the women's weight throw with a personal best toss of 19.22m, the fifth-best time in school history.
UP NEXT
The Pack returns to action on Saturday, January 13 for the second day of the VT Invitational.
