WALNUT, CA - After running a time of 15:03.12, Katelyn Tuohy has set the NCAA outdoor record for the women's 5000m at the Sound Running On Track Fest in California.Â
Tuohy's time sits as the top in the country and is over 17 seconds faster than the current second-place mark.Â
Although this is only the second event of the outdoor season for Tuohy, she now holds the number one time in the NCAA for both the 1500m and 5000m. She ran 4:08.29 in the 1500m last month at the Wake Forest Invite.
The Stony Point, N.Y. native adds another collegiate record to her resume, after setting the all-time collegiate marks for the indoor mile and 3000m earlier this year. Her 1500m split in the mile also counts as an NCAA all-time mark. This is Tuohy's first outdoor NCAA record, and comes in the same event in which she won an individual National Championship during the 2022 outdoor campaign.Â
