Pack Fires Second-Highest Score in Program History
RALEIGH – The NC State gymnastics team fired its best score of the 2023 campaign on Saturday afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum, using the second-highest score in program history to defeat Rutgers 197.225-196.225 in a dual meet on Senior Day.
The afternoon was highlighted by the Pack posting season-high event scores on both bars and floor, with Lauren Rutherford, Emily Shepard, and Chloe Negrete each registering career-high marks in the Pack's final rotation.
Shepard additionally mounted a career-high 39.550 in her all-around performance, while Alexis Ortega did the same at 39.400.
Vault (49.100)
NC State began the afternoon on vault, led by Shepard matching her career-high score of 9.900. Shepard's routine in the fifth slot of the lineup was preceded by a 9.825 from Rutherford, while Ortega and Negrete each posted a 9.800 with the event's scoring effort being competed by a 9.775 from Gabrielle Diaz. Freshman Meg Adler competed second for the Wolfpack, making her NC State debut with a 9.725.
