
Gymnastics Closes Regular Season With 196.375

Pack Matches Season-High Bars Score
DENTON, Tex. – The NC State gymnastics team posted a 196.375 in its final regular season meet on Sunday, finishing in third amongst four competitors in a quad meet at Texas Woman's University with Florida and Washington.
Third-ranked Florida claimed the meet's team championship with a 198.175, while Washington registered a second-place finish at 196.625 and Texas Woman's finished in fourth at 195.575.
The Wolfpack's performance was highlighted by tying its season-high score on bars at 49.225 in addition to a pair of 9.900+ scores from senior Emily Shepard.
Floor (49.300)
NC State began the afternoon on floor with a 49.300, led by Shepard's 9.900. The Pack only counted scores of 9.800+, with Gabrielle Diaz leading off at 9.800 and Chloe Negrete anchoring at 9.875. Negrete's score was matched by Krista Zultevicz which tied her career-high mark of 9.875, while Lauren Rutherford rounded out the scoring effort at 9.850.
Vault (48.950)
Shepard once again led the Wolfpack on vault, posting a 9.825 which was matched by Lauren Rutherford. Ortega fired a 9.750 while Negrete and freshman Meg Adler each posted a 9.725.
Bars (49.225)
The Pack tied its Mar. 4 bar score of 49.225, matching the team's best score in the event in 2023. A career-best 9.925 from Shepard led the way for the Wolfpack, with once again the Pack's lowest-counting score coming at 9.800. Rutherford anchored the third rotation at 9.825, replicating the score of graduate student Meredith Robinson who was making her season debut in a competition routine. Ortega posted a 9.850, while a leadoff 9.800 from freshman Kailee Adomaites completed the scoring effort.
Beam (48.925)
NC State ended the afternoon on beam, with Shepard recorded a team-best 9.850. A leadoff 9.825 and a 9.800 from Ortega marked some of the Pack's best scores, while a 9.775 from Negrete and a 9.725 beam specialist Macy Jennings closed the event for the Wolfpack.
The Pack earned one podium finish on the afternoon, with Shepard's 9.925 on bars resulting in a four-way tie for second place in the event. Shepard posted her second-best all-around score of the season at 39.500, while Alexis Ortega's four-event total concluded at 39.125,

NC State will not shift its focus to postseason play as the Pack will compete in its final EAGL Championship meet on Saturday, Mar. 18, before transitioning to the ACC for the 2024 season. The contest will be held in Durham, N.H., with the Wolfpack in search of its seventh EAGL Championship crown.
