#2 Wrestling to Compete in Ranked Matchups at Collegiate Duals

RALEIGH - Second-ranked NC State wrestling is headed to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in their third-straight Collegiate Duals. The team will face Lock Haven (3 p.m.), No. 25 Northern Iowa (5 p.m.), and No. 10 Ohio State (7 p.m.) on Tuesday afternoon at Montegomery Bell Academy.Â
The Collegiate Wrestling Duals, put on by Journeymen Wrestling, is a two day event featuring eight teams from around the country, 6 of those teams are currently ranked. No. 5 Cornell, No. 6 Iowa State, Little Rock, and No. 13 Pitt will round robin each other on Monday, Dec. 18th while Lock Haven, No. 2 NC State, No. 25 Northern Iowa, and No. 10 Ohio State will do the same on Tuesday, Dec. 19th.Â
• The Wolfpack enter the tournament ranked second in the country by the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll. The team is 7-0 so far this season (5-0 neutral, 2-0 away) with a ranked win over #25 Purdue on Nov. 11th.Â
• Nine of 10 starters are ranked, six of which are in the top-5 of their weight class by FloWrestling.Â

All three matches will take place on December 19th at Montegomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.

2023-24 Accolades:
• Jakob Camacho (125) was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 14th after going 2-0 at Wrangle Mania and defeating previously third-ranked Matt Ramos of Purdue. On Nov. 28th he was placed as the top ranked wrestler for 125 by both FloWrestling and InterMat.Â
• Kai Orine (133) was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 5th after winning his bracket at the 2023 Cliff Keen Invitational Dec. 1-2. His tournament run included three ranked victories: No. 11 Evan Frost (Iowa State), No. 18 Derrick Cardinal (South Dakota State), and No. 25 Gabe Whisenhunt (Oregon State).Â
• Trent Hidlay (197) won the 2023 Cliff Keen Invitational Dec. 1-2, securing back-to-back titles at that tournament after he won the 184 bracket in 2022. His tournament run included four ranked wins: No. 6 Jacob Cardenas (Cornell), No. 8 Jaxon Smith (Maryland), No. 18 Evan Bockman (Utah Valley), and No. 27 Justin Rademacher (Oregon State).Â
Looking Ahead:
The Wolfpack will host Oklahoma State on January 5th, 2024 at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum for the home dual match of the season.Â
