Chmiel, Stephens Take Home ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, NC - After turning in top-five performances at the Joe Piane Invitational this past weekend, NC State runner Kelsey Chmiel has been named ACC Women's Performer of the Week and first-year Leah Stephens has been tabbed as Co-ACC Women's Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Chmiel picks up ACC Performer of the Week honors after finishing second overall in the women's blue 5000m race on Friday in South Bend, IN, clocking in at 16:15.1 to take the second podium spot.
With a time of 16:24.0 in the blue 5000m, Stephens joined Chmiel in the top-five, placing fourth and helping NC State secure a 44-point team victory in the race. This was Stephens' first collegiate race in which she didn't run unattached.
The Pack returns to the course on Friday, October 13 at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, WI and on Saturday, October 14 at the ECU Pirate Invitational in Greenville, NC.
