Wolfpack Hosts Clemson on Homecoming

RALEIGH, N.C. – After two weeks away, NC State football returns to Carter-Finley for homecoming as they get set for an ACC showdown with Clemson. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m., with the CW Network broadcasting the game.
Saturday will mark the 91st meeting between NC State (4-3, 1-2) and Clemson (4-3,2-3), marking the 40th time the game is being played in Raleigh.
The last time these two teams met, the Wolfpack won in Carter-Finley, knocking off No. 9 Clemson in double overtime in 2021. Before that victory, the Tigers had won eight straight in the series.
Three of the last six contests against Clemson have been one-score games, and two of the previous six (at Clemson in 2016 and 2021 in Raleigh) have gone into at least one overtime. Home field advantage is real, with the Wolfpack having won 18 of its last 21 games in Carter-Finley Stadium.
For over three decades, the series between NC State and Clemson was dubbed the Textile Bowl, as that industry has a significant economic impact on both states, and both universities boast renowned textile colleges. NC State's College of Textiles produces more than half of the textile graduates in the nation each year. The North Carolina textile manufacturers donate money to NC State's scholarship fund every year in honor of the Wolfpack's MVP from the game.
A win against the Tigers would give head coach Dave Doeren a tie for the record for coaching victories with the Wolfpack.
The Wolfpack defense continues to be one of the best in the nation as LB Payton Wilson leads the ACC in tackles (11.6/game), a mark that is third in the FBS. Wilson was named the Butkus National LB of the Month for September and is a three-time ACC LB of the Week this year. NC State leads the ACC in third down conversion defense (.275) - the third-best mark in the FBS.
