RALEIGH – NC State is slated to open its 2023 gymnastics season on Monday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. with a dual meet at North Carolina.
The Tar Heels enter Monday's EAGL opener having competed on Friday, Jan. 6 at the Super 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada. North Carolina's 194.625 was enough for the Tar Heels to land a third-place finish in their quad meet, besting Fisk's 186.700 and ending the meet behind Southern Utah's 195.800 and Washington's 195.475.
The matchup between the Wolfpack and Tar Heels serves a as a crucial one on the EAGL slate, as North Carolina was tabbed as the preseason champion in the league's preseason poll while NC State was picked to finish second.
The Pack enter Monday's meet comping off a strong campaign in 2022 resulting in an NCAA tournament birth that led to NC State landing in third place during the second round's opening session at the Raleigh Regional.
The Wolfpack's 2022 season-high score of 196.925 was set during a quad meet at Maryland, with the result serving as the Pack's third-highest mark in program history.
Monday's meet is free for all attendees and will be held at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C. The meet will additionally be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra with Matt Krause and Sydney Snead on the call.
