Gymnastics Sets First-Meet Program Record at 195.525

Pack Opens Season at UNC
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The NC State gymnastics team opened its 2023 campaign on Monday evening by shattering its program record of a first-meet score with a final tally of 195.525.
The previous record was a score of 195.150 which was achieved in a 2011 dual meet against Oklahoma.
Falling just short of North Carolina (196.325), the night was highlighted by multiple members of the roster making their career debuts in red and white.
Bars (49.100)
NC State started its evening on bars where freshman Kailee Adomaites posted a debut score of 9.825. Senior Emily Shepard began a strong night with a score of 9.875 which built towards an all-around mark of 39.000. Lauren Rutherford additionally finished with an impressive showing at 9.825, leading off the night for the sophomore that included three scores of at least 9.800. The 49.100 scored back the Pack was its highest of the event.
Vault (48.850)
Rutherford's strong performance continued on vault with a mark of 9.800, which was then met by Shepard at the same score. Additionally, Chloe Negrete's heavily-anticipated return after suffering an injury during the 2022 season was met with a team-best vault tally of 9.875.
Floor (48.925)
Newcomer Krista Zultevicz's night was highlighted by a score of 9.825 on floor which matched the score of Gabrielle Diaz. It was once again Rutherford who led the way for the Wolfpack with a score of 9.850. Negrete's score of 9.775 was the middle event of an impressive evening, while Shepard's score of 9.650 and Hailey Merchant's 9.500 rounded out the NC State lineup.
Beam (48.650)
The Pack's evening ended with a 48.650 on beam highlighted by Negrete and Diaz posting scored of 9.775. Macy Jennings made her lone appearance of the evening on beam with a 9.725, while Zultevicz posted a 9.700.
Next Up
The Pack returns to Reynolds Colisuem for its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 14 this weekend for a dual meet against nationally-ranked Michigan State. Saturday's contest is slated for a 4 p.m. start and the meet will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
