Tuohy runs the mile in 4:24.26
RALEIGH NC State sophomore Katelyn Tuohy can add NCAA record holder to her already impressive resume.
Saturday at the Dr. Sanders Invitational, Tuohy broke the NCAA indoor record for the mile, finishing in 4:24.26.
The previous record was 4:25.91, set by Jenny Simpson of Colorado in 2009.
In just two seasons, Tuohy already has two NCAA titles (outdoor 5000m, cross country) and is a six-time All-American.
The Stony Point, NY native has gotten off to a strong start this indoor season. In December, she ran the 5000m in 15:15.92 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener. That mark is currently No. 1 in the nation.
