Tuohy runs the mile in 4:24.26
RALEIGH NC State sophomore Katelyn Tuohy can add NCAA record holder to her already impressive resume.
Â
Saturday at the Dr. Sanders Invitational, Tuohy broke the NCAA indoor record for the mile, finishing in 4:24.26.Â
Â
The previous record was 4:25.91, set by Jenny Simpson of Colorado in 2009.Â
Â
In just two seasons, Tuohy already has two NCAA titles (outdoor 5000m, cross country) and is a six-time All-American.
Â
The Stony Point, NY native has gotten off to a strong start this indoor season. In December, she ran the 5000m in 15:15.92 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener. That mark is currently No. 1 in the nation.
