RALEIGH – The NC State gymnastics team returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 for an EAGL tri-meet against conference foes Pitt and George Washington in Reynolds Coliseum.
The meet is slated to begin at 4 p.m. with the action being broadcast on the ACC Network Extra through the Watch ESPN app.
The Wolfpack enters Saturday's contest having set a pair of program records in its first two meets of the season.
In its dual meet at North Carolina on Jan. 9, the Pack's score of 195.525 marked the program's highest score ever in a season opener, while Jan. 14's 196.375 against nationally-ranked Michigan State set a new bar for the highest score in program history in a home opener.
NC State saw vast improvements across the board from its first meet of the 2023 campaign to its second, with the Pack's highest individual and team scores on each event all coming in the team's dual meet against Michigan State.
The Wolfpack's pair of opponents come into Reynolds Coliseum each beginning the 2023 on a positive note. Pitt began its season with a quad-meet victory over Penn, Penn State, and Temple with a score of 195.950. The Panthers followed their Keystone Classic victory with a 193.650 in a quad meet against California, Iowa, and Oregon State, all of which are ranked in Road To Nationals' top 20. Pitt's season has been highlighted thus far by sweeping the opening week's EAGL awards, with Sidney Washington winning Gymnast of the Week, Jordyn Ewing winning Specialist of the Week, and Reyna Garvey winning Rookie of the Week.
2022 EAGL Champion George Washington enters Saturday having begun their season on Jan. 15 with a second-place quad-meet finish at 195.300. The Colonials faced off against Cornell, William & Mary, and meet champion Nebraska to open their 2023 campaign, with their vault and floor scores leading the way at 49.050.
