NC State Rallies Past Clemson for ACC Road Victory

CLEMSON, S.C. – The NC State women's soccer team opened ACC road action with a 2-1 comeback victory over Clemson at the Tigers' Riggs Field on Thursday night.
NC State (7-3-3, 2-2 ACC) remained undefeated on the road with its second 2-1 comeback victory in conference play, overcoming an early 1-0 deficit behind goals from Leyah Hall-Robinson and Jameese Joseph.
Hall-Robinson netted the tying goal in the 38th minute off a corner kick from the Wolfpack. Jaiden Thomas played the ball short to Annika Wohner before Hall-Robinson finished past the goalkeeper to make it 1-1 near the halftime break.
Joseph, who extended her team lead in goals with six, recorded her fourth game-winning strike in the 74th minute. Joseph received a pass from Hall-Robinson before beating the outstretched arms of Clemson goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz. Mackiewicz got a hand on Joseph's strike, but she was unable to stop the Pack's game-winner.
NC State fired 11 shots, six of which were on target. Joseph and Fernanda Soto paced the Pack with three shots apiece. Joseph fired all three of her attempts on target.
Hall-Robinson led the Pack with a three-point night, logging her second goal and fourth assist of the season.
Maria Echezarreta made six saves, denying Clemson (5-4-2, 1-3 ACC) six times on its seven shots on frame. The Pack limited Clemson to just two shots in the final 16:54 following Joseph's game-winning strike.
Clemson's Caroline Conti opened Thursday night's scoring with a goal from outside the box in the ninth minute.

After taking Sunday off, NC State will continue its three-game road trip at Notre Dame on Thursday, Oct. 6. Next Thursday's kickoff in South Bend, Indiana, is slated for 8 p.m. and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
