Volleyball Falls in Four to K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The NC State volleyball team fell to Kansas State in four sets (27-25, 14-25, 17-25, 18-25) Friday evening in its second match at the K-State Invitational.
Senior setter Kristen McDaniel tallied three kills which made an impact for the Pack and finished with a .750 hitting percentage. She also recorded 31 assists.
Sophomore outside hitter Jada Allen led the Wolfpack with nine kills and earned 11.5 points.
Graduate libero Priscilla Hernandez recorded 21 digs for the Wolfpack and two service aces.
Set One (27-25):
The Pack struggled to gain momentum, but Allen ended the Wildcats six point streak with a kill. McDaniel added two kills to help the Pack gain the lead. Hernandez was behind the service line for five straight Pack points. After a back and forth battle for match point, the Wolfpack came out on top.
Set Two (25-14):
NC State struggled to get into a rhythm. Allen ended K-State's biggest scoring run with a kill. Freshman outside hitter Courtney Bryant recorded her collegiate debut and tallied two kills. Head coach Luka Slabe challenged a point awarded to the Wildcats and won after it was found they had a touch.
Set Three (25-17):
The two teams battled back and forth to start the third set. The Pack tallied three straight points with Amanda Rice behind the service line and took a 6-5 lead. After battling back and forth, K-State took the set. NC State held the Wildcats to a 0.081 hitting percentage.
Set Four (25-18):
Like the third set, the two teams battled back and forth to start. Redshirt-sophomore Madison Williams tied the match, 6-6, after a kill that was set by McDaniel. The Wildcats struggled with serving as they tallied six service errors in the fourth set alone. They totaled 15 service errors on the evening. Elena Baka paced the Cats in the final set, as she finished with 12 kills in the match.

NC State will face Sam Houtson, its final opponent at the K-State Invitational, at 11am EDT on Saturday Aug. 27.
