NC State got on the board in the sixth when Dominic Pilolli drove in Devonte Brown, who reached on a hit-by-pitch, from first with an RBI triple down the right field line. It was Pilolli's second triple of the year.
J.T. Jarrett's solo shot to left field in the seventh, his second homer of the season, cut the Pack's deficit in half to 4-2.
The Hokies regained their four-run lead back in the seventh via Schobel's second two-run homer of the game, and then a bases-loaded wild pitch and RBI groundout in the eighth made it 8-2.
Six different players tallied a hit in the contest, as LuJames Groover III extended his hit streak to 16 and his reached base streak to 19 to lead the Pack's offense in those respective categories.
