
Track & Field Opens Duke Invite Competition

DURHAM, N.C. - The NC State track & field programs opened competition at the Duke Invite on Friday, tabbing several personal bests throughout the first day of competition.
DISTANCE
Robinson Snider registered a podium finish in the men's 1500m, placing third with a personal-best 3:47.57. Ian Harrison (3:47.75), Dan McGoey (3:53.95) and Kevin Antczak (3:54.02) each tabbed PRs in the event as well.
In the invitational section of the men's 1500m, Brett Gardner notched the seventh-fastest time in program history with a 3:43.72 while Nate Kawalec clocked a PR of 3:46.55.
Shannon Sefton and Alyssa Hendrix recorded personal-best times in the women's 1500m, Sefton running a 4:37.11 and Hendrix posting a 4:41.36.
The women's invitational 1500m saw Mariah Howlett tab a personal-best 4:24.40 and Jenna Schulz run a 4:29.54 PR.
JUMPS
A pair of Wolfpack jumpers earned personal-best marks in the women's long jump. Jirah Sidberry's leap of 5.88m (19' 3.5") checked into the NC State record book as the seventh-farthest in program history. Zahra Bichara recorded a PR as well with a 5.45m (17' 10.75").
THROWS
Lance Penegar opened competition for NC State with a personal-best toss in the men's hammer throw. The sophomore posted a 52.45m (172' 1") mark.
On the women's side of the hammer throw, Caitlyn Vester posted the 10th-best mark in program history with a 48.86m (160' 4"). Kayla Beasley recorded a PR on the day, throwing for 48.71m (159' 9").
