Pack Begins Competition in Charlotte and Athens

ATHENS, Ga. and CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NC State track & field teams began action at the Charlotte Invitational and Torrin Lawrence Memorial on Friday, collecting six podium finishes.
DISTANCE
In the women's 1500m at the Charlotte Invitational, Claire Walters ran a personal best of 4:37.58.
Sarah LaTour and Alyssa Hendrix suited up for NC State in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the Charlotte Invitational. LaTour registered a podium finish with a 10:32.18, and Hendrix clocked a personal-best 10:56.91.
SPRINTS
Jada Griffin and McKenzie Long brought home the top two spots in the women's 200m at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial, Griffin placing first and Long taking second.
Griffin's time of 23.47 was a personal best and checks into the NC State record book as the fifth-fastest time in program history. Long's podium placement was earned with a mark of 23.55.
Von Douglas competed in the men's 200m at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial, crossing the finish line in 21.07 for a PR.
THROWS
Makala Wright recorded an impressive day in the women's hammer throw at the Charlotte Invitational, posting a mark of 52.02m (170' 8") for a personal-best. Her toss ranks sixth in program history and earned her a second-place finish at the meet.
On the men's side, Lance Penegar tabbed a hammer throw PR of 47.46m (155' 8") in Charlotte Invitational competition.
