RALEIGH – No. 3 NC State women's tennis closed out its regular-season slate with another sweep as it blanked visiting Notre Dame 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolfpack ends its regular season 22-4 overall and 10-3 in conference play, marking the third season in a row that the squad has hit a double-digit number of ACC victories.
NC State celebrated the career of graduate Jaeda Daniel ahead of Saturday's match. After transferring into the program and playing the last three seasons with the Wolfpack, she has played an integral role in some of the best seasons in NC State women's tennis history. Daniel helped the Pack become a mainstay in the national top five and make a program-best run to the NCAA Final Four last season. Individually, she was a 2021 All-American in doubles and ranks sixth in NC State history in career doubles wins (72) and just outside the top 10 in singles wins (59).
NC State came out on top of a tightly-contested doubles point, picking up wins on the top two courts. Abigail Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki, who are ranked 22nd nationally as a pair, shrugged off a mid-match surge by the Fighting Irish on their way to the 6-3 win. Third-ranked Daniel and Nell Miller then gutted out a 7-5 win in a top-20 matchup, coming back from a 4-2 deficit to earn the victory.
Priska Nugroho quickly got the first singles point with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court three, and Rencheli won 6-4, 6-1 in a ranked matchup with No. 93 Julia Andreach. Amelia Rajecki clinched with her 6-3, 7-6 (11) victory over Carrie Beckman, fighting off multiple set points to finish in straight sets.
Sophie Abrams also got a straight-sets win on court six, and Daniel (super tiebreaker) and Miller (full set) both finished off their matches in the third frame.
The Wolfpack now turns its attention to postseason competition, which opens with the ACC Championships next week. The conference tournament will run April 20-24 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga. Final seeing for the event will be announced after the conclusion of Sunday's matches across the ACC.
