
Wolfpack Women's Tennis Team Prepped for ACC Tournament Play

ROME, Ga. – Third-ranked NC State women's tennis opens postseason play in the second round of the 2022 ACC Championships draw on Thursday afternoon.
The Wolfpack (22-4) is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will open action at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Rome Tennis Center. NC State will take on No. 12 seed Clemson, which opened the tournament with a first-round win over No. 13 seed Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
CHAMPIONSHIP INFO:
Tournament action begins Wednesday and will run through Sunday. The championship match on Sunday morning will be broadcast live on ACCNX.
Should the Pack continue advancing, its weekend match schedule would be as follows:
- Second Round Match: Thursday, April 21 against Clemson at 3:30 p.m.
- Quarterfinal Match: Friday, April 22 against Virginia at 3:30 p.m.
- Semifinal Match: Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
- Championship Match: Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m.
REGULAR SEASON REVIEW:
NC State finished the regular season 22-4 overall and 10-3 in ACC play. The Pack has secured 10+ conference wins in each of the last three completed dual match campaigns. NC State defeated eight top-25 opponents during the regular season, with two of those victories coming in ACC play.
The Wolfpack won its first seven conference matches of the campaign and beat out the program's previous best start to ACC play (4-0).
NC State ended the regular season tied for third in the ACC standings with Virginia and Miami.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
As a team, NC State has been ranked in the national top eight for the entirety of the season and in the national top three for the entirety of March and April. The Wolfpack has spent three weeks in a row ranked at No. 3 and has been in the national top five since February 16. NC State has faced 12 opponents ranked in the national top 25 this season.
NC State has two active ranked doubles pairs: Jaeda Daniel and Nell Miller (career-best No. 2) and Amelia Rajecki and Abigail Rencheli (No. 26). Daniel (No. 12), Rencheli (No. 40), Alana Smith (No. 59) and Priska Nugroho (No. 66) are all ranked in singles as well.
ACC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY:
Since the ACC Women's Tennis Championships took the current bracket-style format in 1990, NC State has appeared in the league tournament every season. The Pack has appeared in two semifinals in program history (1995 and 1998) and has never advanced to the championship match.
