#20 Men’s Tennis To Conclude Regular Season with Top-20 Rivalry Matchups

RALEIGH - The 20th-ranked NC State men's tennis team (16-7, 5-5 ACC) is slated to wrap up its regular season with a pair of top-20 ACC matchups. The Pack takes on No. 19 Duke Friday, April 15 at 6 p.m. and No. 18 North Carolina Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
NC State won its first meeting with the Tar Heels this season, 4-3. Its matchup with Duke will be its first of 2022.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
The Wolfpack reentered the top 20 on April 13, checking into the ITA team rankings at 20th in the nation.
Robin Catry is the highest-ranked singles competitor for the Pack in the April 13 rankings at No. 101. He is joined in singles by Rafa Izquierdo Luque's No. 116 ranking.
Catry and Luca Staeheli moved up in the most recent ITA doubles rankings to No. 38, and the pairing of Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek is ranked at No. 58
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
Duke checks into the national rankings at No. 18 with an overall record of 16-5 (8-2 ACC). The Blue Devils have collected four wins over top-25 opponents, most recently defeating then-No. 23 Notre Dame in a 5-2 decision.
Garrett Johns is the lone ranked singles player for Duke at No. 43.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina maintains an overall record of 13-6 and a conference record of 8-2. The Tar Heels will travel to Winston-Salem to take on No. 8 Wake Forest before making the trip to Raleigh.
Brian Cernoch checks into the singles rankings at No. 33 and is additionally ranked in doubles with Mac Kiger at No. 8. The Tar Heels' other ranked doubles pair is made up of Casey Kania and Logan Zapp at No. 89.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack defeated Clemson at home on April 10, getting the 5-2 win. Despite Clemson taking the doubles point, NC State made quick work of the match with five singles wins in a row.
Braden Shick, Rocens, Damien Salvestre and Staeheli each took care of their singles matches in straight sets, and Fons Van Sambeek rounded out the group with singles wins.

NC State will travel to Rome, Ga., for the 2022 ACC Championships April 20-24. Match times and opponents will be announced at a later date.
