NC State Finishes VyStar Gators Invitational in Tie for Tenth

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The NC State women's golf team wrapped up the final day of competition at the VyStar Gators Invitational on Sunday, finishing the tournament in a tie for tenth place with a 879 (+39) after turning in a three-over par 291 in round three.
The day was highlighted by Lauren Olivares Leon using three back-nine birdies to fire an even-par round of 70, enough to earn the freshman standout her third top-20 finish of the year.
Lea Klimentova posted NC State's second-best round of the day with a 71 (+1), finishing the week with a score of 218 (+8) at T26.
Isabel Amezcua, Natalie Armbruester, and Ryann Sinclair each additionally competed for the Wolfpack, with Amezcua shooting 74 (+4) on Sunday. Sinclair finished the tournament with her best round of the weekend at 76 (+6) in what was her first competitive outing of the 2021-2022 season, and Armbruester wrapped up the week with a final-round score of 81 (+11).
NC State finished the tournament in a tie with Maryland for tenth place, with Florida and Michigan sharing the team title at 851 (+11) for the week.
Michigan's Ashley Lau was the tournament individual winner at 203 (-7), with Oklahoma State's Han-Hsuan Yu finishing runner-up at 204 (-6). The two competitors were the only two players to finish the week with scores under par.
Next up for the Wolfpack will be the Briar's Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C. The tournament will be hosted at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek by College of Charleston on March 14-15.
