NC State Geared up for Briar's Creek Invitational

RALEIGH - The NC State women's golf team is set for competition for the second time in as many weeks, as the Wolfpack will tee off Monday at the Briar's Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C., hosted by College of Charleston.

It will be NC State's second time competing in the Palmetto State this season, as in September the Wolfpack opened the slate with a 14th-place finish at College of Charleston's Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club.

Head coach Page Marsh will bring five players to the Golf Club at Briar's Creek to compete in what will be NC State's final road trip of the regular season.

Lauren Olivares Leon, Isabel Amezcua and Natalie Armbruester will each be in the Wolfpack's lineup, as they have in all six tournaments thus far. Olivares Leon comes in following her third top 20 finish of the season last week at the VyStar Gators Invitational.

NC State will additionally bring Lea Klimentova, who is coming off of a season-low score of 70 (E) last week in round two at the Mark Bostick Golf Club.

Finally, Pilar Berchot will be competing for the Wolfpack, whose first outing of the season was at the UCF Challenge in February.

The tournament will be NC State's last of the season before returning home to the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in April for the Wolfpack Match Play Event.

Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, with the final round of competition set for Tuesday. Monday will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start, while Tuesday's round will begin at 8:45 a.m. Each of NC State's five competitors will be playing alongside golfers from Penn State and Nebraska.

NC State participated in the VyStar Gators Invitational on March 5-6 hosted by the University of Florida at the Mark Bostick Golf Club in Gainesville, Fla., finishing the weekend in a tie for 10th place. Olivares Leon finished the tournament at T14th, closing the weekend with an even-par score of 70. The week was additionally headlined by Ryann Sinclair making her first team-score performance of the season, as well as a standout showing from Klimentova.
