#HomeRunMindset Leads to Program Record

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – NC State's bats continued to be on fire from game one as the Wolfpack hit its way past North Carolina for a 15-8 Atlantic Coast Conference softball victory on Saturday afternoon in Anderson Stadium.
The Pack (21-11, 3-8 ACC) set a program record by hitting nine home runs in the game. NC State has hit two or more home runs as a team in 14 games this season.
Logan Morris had an outstanding day at the plate as she finished 3-of-4 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. Taylor Johnson and Libby Whittaker followed behind with two home runs and two RBI apiece.
Kaylee Lambrecht went 3-for-5, her first three-hit performance of the season and 12th multi-hit game. Lambrecht added two RBI, a home run, a double and three runs scored to her stat line.
Aisha Weixlmann earned the win in the circle to improve to 9-5 on the season after tossing 4.1 innings.
NC State's offense began heating up in the second inning as Johnson began the home run derby with a solo shot. Later in the inning, Morris teed up a three-run home run to take a 5-1 lead. In the third inning, Johnson stepped up to bat and hit her second homer to increase NC State's lead to 6-1.
Morris and Randi Farricker hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to give the Pack an 8-2 lead. The homers continued in the fifth as Whittaker, Alaina Smith and Lambrecht smashed homers, with Smith's being a two-run shot to allow the Wolfpack to hold a comfortable 12-3 lead.
UNC (17-14, 3-5 ACC) responded with four runs in its half of the inning to avoid being run-ruled. Whittaker hit the final NC State home run in the sixth inning to set the program record.
