CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The NC State men's tennis team (12-6, 1-4 ACC) fell to 11th-ranked Virginia (13-5, 7-0 ACC), 4-0, on Friday.
DOUBLES RECAP
Virginia won the first doubles match of the day with Inaki Montes de la Torre and Ryan Goetz's 6-3 defeat of No. 19 Luca Staeheli and Robin Catry.
Thirty-ninth-ranked Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek knotted things up with a ranked win with a 6-3 victory over No. 59 Chris Rodesch and Bar Botzer.
Gianni Ross and Jeffrey von der Schulenberg won the doubles point for the Cavaliers with a 6-4 win against Collin Shick and Yannai Barkai.
SINGLES RECAP
In singles, Virginia was able to win three-straight matches to post the 4-0 team win. No. 16 Rodesch began singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 108 Catry on court one.
No. 75 Goetz was the second Cavalier to victory, taking down Braden Shick 7-5, 6-2 just minutes before No. 59 von der Schulenberg defeated Rocens 6-4, 6-3.
