Men’s Tennis to Continue ACC Competition at #11 Virginia, Virginia Tech

RALEIGH - The NC State men's tennis program is set to make a weekend trip to No. 11 Virginia and Virginia Tech, competing against the Cavaliers March 23 at 3 p.m. and the Hokies March 25 at 3 p.m.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
In the March 23 ITA rankings, Rafa Izquierdo Luque checked in at No. 82 while Robin Catry remains ranked in singles at No. 108. The junior checks into the doubles list at No. 19 with Luca Staeheli.
The duo of Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek rounds out the group of ranked players with the No. 39 spot in the ITA doubles rankings.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia holds a 12-5 dual match record that includes six conference wins. Most recently, Virginia defeated Clemson in a 4-0 sweep.
Chris Rodesch ranks 16th in the country in singles, and Inaki Montes de la Torre checks in at No. 29. Jeffrey von der Schulenberg is in the singles ranks at 59th while Ryan Goetz is ranked 75th.
Goetz and Rodesch are ranked in doubles at No.8 , and Rodesch is additionally ranked with Bar Botzer at 51st. Montes de la Torre and von der Schulenberg check into the ranks at 62nd. Rodesch and William Woodall round out the ranked doubles group at No. 68.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech holds a 5-12 overall and 1-5 ACC record. The Hokies will face off against No. 8 Wake Forest Friday before welcoming the Wolfpack to Blacksburg.
Ryan Fishback is the Hokies' only ranked singles competitor at No. 97. Fishback is additionally ranked in doubles action with Jordan Chrysostom.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State notched a top-10 victory with a 4-1 win over No. 6 South Carolina on Wednesday for its highest-ranked victory of the season.
The Pack won the doubles point with wins by No. 19 Catry and Staeheli as well as Collin Shick and Fons Van Sambeek.
The team victory was secured with wins by Staeheli, Rocens and No. 108 Catry.
UP NEXT
NC State travels to Louisville for a match Friday, April 1 and follows that with a competition at Notre Dame Sunday, April 3.
