Wolfpack Gets ACC Win Over Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The NC State men's tennis team (13-6, 2-4 ACC) defeated Virginia Tech (5-14, 1-7 ACC) by a score of 4-1 on Sunday, gaining its third win in four matches.

DOUBLES RECAP
The Pack made quick work of doubles competition, getting wins on courts two and three. Joseph Schrader and Yannai Barkai notched a quick 6-4 win over Carlo Donato and Matt Harper before Collin Shick and Fons Van Sambeek posted a 6-3 defeat of Alvaro Ariza and Scott Sculley.

SINGLES RECAP
All three of NC State's wins came in straight-set fashion, led off by Martins Rocens' 6-2, 6-1 win over Michael Shepheard.

Virginia Tech was able to get on the board with Carlo Donato's win by retirement against Damien Salvestre.

On court three, Van Sambeek put the squad one point away from clinching with a 6-1, 6-2 takedown of Alberto Orso.

No. 108 Robin Catry clinched it for the Pack with his 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Hugo Maia on court two.

The Wolfpack remains on the road, traveling to Louisville April 1 and Notre Dame April 3.
