RALEIGH – NC State softball suffered a 5-2 loss to Virginia on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Coast Conference action inside of Dail Softball Stadium.
The Cavaliers (17-11, 4-1 ACC) put up a run in each of the first four innings which created enough space to hold off the Wolfpack (19-9, 2-6 ACC).
Kaylee Lambrecht registered a hit, a run scored and an RBI, her 18th of the season. Logan Morris also racked up a hit and an RBI to go along with a walk. Libby Whittaker went 1-for-2 with a double, her second of the season.
In the circle, Aisha Weixlmann received the loss to move to 7-4 on the year. Weixlmann finished with 2.1 innings, five hits, three runs and two strikeouts.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Morris stepped up to the plate a hit a double off the center field wall that scored Lambrecht from second to reduce the deficit to 3-1. Virginia responded with a run in the fourth off an error to regain its three-run lead.
The Wolfpack tallied its final run of the game in the fourth as Gracie Roberts scored off a groundout.
