All 10 Pack qualifiers still alive in tournament
DETROIT, MICH. – The NC State Wrestling team will have four going for a semifinal berth tomorrow, and the remaining six qualifiers are all still alive in the consolation round at the 2022 NCAA Championships.

After the first two sessions, the Pack sits in third place in the team race with 21.5 points. Penn State leads with 27.5 and Arizona State is second with 22. NC State and Iowa are the only two teams with all 10 wrestlers still alive.

Tariq Wilson (149 pounds), Ed Scott (157), Hayden Hidlay (174) and Trent Hidlay (184) all advanced to the quarterfinals with a pair of wins on the first day of action.

Wilson gave up the first takedown, but responded with his own and a pair of escapes for a 4-3 decision over Penn's Artalona. Scott used a pair of takedowns, a pair of reversals and 1:09 of ride time to down Oklahoma's Thomas 9-6.

Both Hidlay brothers punched their tickets to the quarterfinals for the second straight year. Hayden had all five takedowns and 2:02 of ride time for a bonus point win, 13-5 over Duke's Finesilver. Trent had a pair of first-period takedowns to secure a 5-3 decision over Minnesota's Salazar.

Jack started with a 10-5 decision, as he recorded all five takedowns of the bout and added in 3:07 of ride time. Bullard followed up with the lone tech fall of the day, as he jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first period and his bout ended with an escape in the second, 15-0.

Trumble scored the Pack's third pin of the day with a fall 5:33 into his match. Houghton closed the Wolfpack's day with a 9-4 decision, with three takedowns and over two minutes of ride time.
