Pack Falls in Midweek Tilt

RALEIGH – NC State dropped a 7-0 decision to Troy in non-conference softball action on Tuesday afternoon at Dail Softball Stadium.
The Wolfpack (19-7) tried to battle back late but the Trojans' (16-6) pitcher shut down any hope of NC State making a comeback.
Alaina Smith led the way for the Pack with a perfect 1-for-1 outing and a walk while Logan Morris and Kaylee Lambrecht each registered a hit. Aisha Weixlmann (7-3) suffered the loss in the circle after tossing 1.0 inning giving up four runs on two hits while striking out two batters.
Smith broke up Troy's perfect game bid in the bottom of the third with a two-out bunt single but a fly out to centerfield ended NC State's small threat. In the bottom half of the sixth, the Pack was able to place runners on first and second with no outs but two fly outs and a strikeout wrapped up the inning.
Troy hit a three-run home run in the second to take a 3-0 lead it would not relinquish.
