DURHAM, N.C. – NC State suffered an 8-0 (5 inn.) loss to No. 13 Duke in the series finale of Atlantic Coast Conference softball action in Duke Softball Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Wolfpack (19-6, 2-4 ACC) struggled offensively while Blue Devils' (21-3, 6-0 ACC) bats remained hot from the doubleheader on Friday.
At the plate, Logan Morris and Michele Tarpey accounted for the Pack's hits. Kaylee Lambrecht and Randi Farricker reached base via a walk.
Maddie McPherson suffered (5-3) the loss after going 1.2 innings with four hits, three earned runs with two strikeouts.
The Pack had a base runner each of the first four innings but Duke's pitcher shut down any hopes for NC State to gain some consistent offensive rhythm.
