#24 Men’s Tennis to Host #7 Georgia, #25 UCF in Weekend Matches

RALEIGH - The No. 24 NC State men's tennis team (3-1) is set to open a home stand with a matchup against seventh-ranked Georgia (3-0) Friday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. and No. 25 UCF (1-3) Sunday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m.
Fans are permitted to attend all home matches in the 2022 season and are required to wear masks for indoor competitions per NC State's University Community Standards.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
NC State entered the ITA rankings for the first time in 2022 with the Feb. 2 edition of the poll, checking in at No. 24.
Junior Robin Catry remains at No. 36 in the ITA singles rankings, a career-high placement for the Lille, France, native.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
No. 7 Georgia hosted a regional site for the 2022 ITA Kickoff, winning both matches to advance to ITA Indoors. The Bulldogs took down VCU, 4-1, before going on to beat USF by the same score.
In singles, Philip Henning is the highest-ranked player at No. 23. Hamish Stewart checks in nearby at No. 32 while Trent Bryde holds the No. 62 spot. Blake Croyder (No. 110) and Thomas Paulsell (No. 119) round out the Bulldogs' ranked singles group.
In doubles, Bryde and Henning are ranked together No. 21. Henning is additionally ranked No. 47 with Hamish Stewart
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Twenty-fourth-ranked UCF has taken on ranked teams in three of its four matches. The Knights advanced to the championship match of its ITA Kickoff site but ultimately fell to then-No. 14 Stanford.
Trey Hilderbrand leads the singles rankings for UCF at No. 16 and is ranked in doubles with Bogdan Pavel at No. 22 and Leyton Cronje at No. 41.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State got its first ranked win of the season over then-No. 25 Illinois, 4-2, at the ITA Kickoff regional in Oxford, Miss. The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point against then-No. 18 Ole Miss but were defeated in a 4-2 decision by the Rebels.
Martins Rocens claimed the ranked victory over No. 44 Finn Reynolds in NC State's loss to Ole Miss, defeating Reynolds in a gutsy 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 match.
UP NEXT
NC State continues its home stretch with a doubleheader Saturday, Feb 12 against Presbyterian (11 a.m.) and NC Central (3 p.m.).
