#Pack9 Picked To Finish Second In Atlantic Division Of ACC Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Playing in one of the nation's toughest conferences, NC State was picked to finish second in the Atlantic Division of the 2022 ACC Baseball Preseason poll, announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

Based on a vote by the league's head coaches, the Wolfpack collected 76 points and one first-place vote to finish behind overall champion Florida State (88 points, eight first-place votes) in the division.

Nine ACC teams have been ranked in at least one major poll during the 2022 preseason, and 15 different ACC players have been named to at least one preseason All-America Team. NC State has been featured among the top 20 of five national preseason polls (No. 7 – Perfect Game, No. 9 – USA Today, No. 10 – DI Baseball, No. 11 - NCBWA, No. 16 – Baseball America), while Sam Highfill has earned Preseason All-America Second Team status from four of the five major news outlets (Collegiate Baseball, DI Baseball, NCBWA and Perfect Game).

The ACC has placed at least one team in each of the last 15 College World Series and at least six teams in each of the last 17 NCAA Tournaments. NC State is coming off of a College World Series appearance, its third in program history and second under head coach Elliott Avent, and tied its highest national finish last season with a No. 3 ranking by USA Today and NCBWA.Â

The Pack opens its season Feb. 18 when it hosts Evansville at 3 p.m. Doak Field at Dail Park. TV designations will be announced at a later date.
