NC State Falls in Pitcher’s Duel

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – NC State dropped a tough 1-0 loss to Western Carolina in non-conference softball action inside of UNF Softball Complex in both teams' River City Leadoff finale.
The Wolfpack (4-1) struggled to find some offensive rhythm and two errors in the first inning deemed to be the deciding factor to allow the Catamounts (4-1) to earn the shutout win.
Aisha Weixlmann received the tough loss to move to 3-1 on the season. She tossed six innings, only allowing two hits while striking out seven but the unearned run was the difference.
Taylor Johnson tallied the Wolfpack's sole hit in the seventh inning but the Pack was unable to pull off a late-game comeback.

NC State will return to Dail Softball Stadium for its home opener against Lehigh at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 18 in the Wolfpack Classic.
