RALEIGH Fresh off her NCAA cross country national title, Katelyn Tuohy got her indoor season off to a hot start.
Tuohy set a school record in the 5000 meters at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, finishing in 15:15.92. That time was good enough for a school record. Tuohy's performance earned her the ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week.
The sophomore from Stony Point, NY, was the first collegiate athlete to cross the finish line at the event. Her time ranks ninth all-time in college history. It's second in ACC history behind the 15:51.21 time set by Molly Seidel of Notre Dame in 2016.
Last season Tuohy won the ACC indoor championship in the 5000m.
